The History Of Dental On Cue

We’re 89 Years Old This Year!

For over 80 years Dental On Cue has been committed to maintaining the highest level of care for all our patients.
Whilst the technology has certainly changed over the years, our focus has remained on being the best at everything we do.
First established in 1927 by Dr James W Hickey (Surgeon Dentist) with Dr Geoff Andrews joining him in 1966, the practice was located at 103 High Street Kew, above the JJ Murphy and Son grocery store, and later the A O Blake Chemist.

For 45 years the surgery operated at this original site, located just around the corner from the current location, until in 1972 when the Country Roads board demolished the building as part of the project to widen Kew Junction.
In July that year, the practice moved to 1 Studley Park Road, where it remains today. Originally a residence, the home was renovated to suit the needs of a dental surgery.
The surgery operated one of the first x-ray machines to be located within a dental practice at the time, and also offered patients one of the first flat dentist chairs at the time, which offered comfort for both the dentist and the patient.

Dr Alan Johnston joined the practice in 1975 which was the beginning of a long, successful partnership and association with Dr Geoff Andrews. The fruitful relationship continued right until Dr Geoff Andrews' retirement in June 1999, the same year Dr Joe Juric joined the practice.

The Dental On Cue Experience

Fine Dentistry With A Modern Approach

Your experience at Dental on Cue begins long before you enter our practice in Kew.

Now that you’re here….. As a new patient, your first point of contact will be our friendly front of house staff.
We will chat to you over the phone about you, and be able to alleviate any concerns you might have about coming the dentist, no matter how silly they may seem. In fact, we have probably dealt with it before, and successfully by the way. After all, that’s what we do.

Our entire reception team are experienced dental nurses meaning they are qualified to discuss your dental health and are a fantastic resource to our patients, dentists and oral health therapists alike. On arrival, we invite you to enjoy our internet access over a coffee, tea or cool refreshment; and perhaps even a muffin. Feel free to choose from our vast Apple TV entertainment library whilst having treatment. If we don’t have anything to your liking, we will get it for you. It’s the little details that make Dental on Cue more than just about a healthy mouth.

We endeavour to create a pleasurable experience for you, and have replaced the traditional smells and sounds of a dental surgery, with low allergenic scents and acoustic panelling within the rooms to reduce echo. Your care nurse will support you through your appointment, step by step, and assist you with anything, at any time. Once you have met either of our clinicians, Joy, Darren, Joe, or Darius, your care nurse will then help clarify your options and of course, support your choices.
These options are all documented and given to you, outlining step by step the clinical stages, associated costs and private health rebate numbers, so that you are in a position decide what is best for you. We have HICAPS so we can even calculate your out of pocket expenses on the spot, and you can claim on the day of the treatment.

Once you’re at home, any one of our team members are only an email or phone call away. Unless, of course you hear from us earlier in the form of a courtesy call, just to make sure your experience with us, is what you expected.
